Dear Colleagues:
HR professionals are critical to the success of public education. The multiple demands of the human resources role can be daunting, even for those who have been doing it for many years. There are new challenges and changes every day. We are here for you! Our organization provides needed support to public school professionals that are involved with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, benefit administration, contract negotiations, testing, certification, grievance processing, data management, human relations, professional development, or any other aspect of employee relations.
CASPA, The Connecticut Association of School Personnel Administrators, provides information, best practices and ongoing support. We accomplish this at our breakfast meetings held four times a year, starting in October. We conclude the year with a luncheon meeting in May that combines formal presentations with a bit of entertainment and relaxation.
During the year we stay in contact through our website and listserv. We are expanding our website to include links to resources and vendors. A quick question through our listserv may be answered by a dozen members whose suggestions can save you hours of work.
Our national organization, AASPA, American Association of School Personnel Administrators, provides
additional resources. In addition, AASPA hosts an annual conference which is scheduled to be held in Kansas City, MO October 17-20. We will be hosting the conference in Hartford in 2009.
I encourage you to take advantage of our resources and to register for membership in CASPA.
